“The truth is the kindest thing you can give folks in the end”
Harriot Beecher Stowe (1881 - 1896)
That’s the quote that was on my teabag this morning. The truth. I wonder how many times I’ve been too afraid to say the truth for fear of hurting someone’s feelings.
I’d never thought of the truth as kind.
As a therapist, I learned to coach the truth in kind ways. Rather than bursting out with one thing or another, I learned that people are able to hear things when you saying them in ways they can understand. Kind truths.
I have continued my focus on kindness:
- I stopped to help to ancient people with the parking kiosk,
- I sent along an interesting article to a friend,
- I invited a friend, who’s house is in the middle of an overhaul, for dinner,
- I focused on writing kind, supportive comments to people’s Thursday Thirteens
to name a few.
For those of you on the Everyday Kindness blogroll, I sent an email this morning with the blogroll code. Adding the blogroll to your blog not only boosts your Google and Technorati score, it also encourages people to join us.
One act at a time, we are making the world a kinder place.

Thanks for the links. I have been very remiss about posting my acts of kindness. I guess it just sort of feels like bragging to me. I’ll work on that, though.
Thanks for everything you do.

Sandy - I completely understand. I feel a tad narcissistic blabbing on as well. At the same time, it’s great to see what people are doing. I always feel great when I read it - inspired to do more. I think that’s one of the powers of a group.

I haven’t been posting about this either for the same reason. But I am more consciously trying to be kind instead of indifferent. Committing to this is keeping me honest, so to speak, although I still may not post about it.

I completely understand. I don’t think that posting is mandatory. I would encourage you, if you come up with a good idea, let me know. That helps all of us. I don’t have to tell someone that YOU did it, just that it was done.
