As usual for me, I’ve gotten a little big in my thinking. I want to fix everything right this very minute or yesterday. Pathetic, isn’t it? Sigh.
Last week, I spent most of my kindness acts praying for people. But then that’s not enough. So I have to then be a prayer for people. Then it’s not the people I see but the entire freakin’ world.
You can see the problem.
Time to scale myself back a bit to the original goal - one small act of kindness every day. Balance. Temperance. We’ll see how long that lasts!
Around the Everyday Kindness world, we have great acts of kindness going on. Here’s a little bit of what people are doing:
- Nikki at My husband calls me weird highlighted a few of her acts such as letting a man in front of her at the grocery store, not harping on her husband after he had a difficult day, and letting someone in front of her in traffic.
- Amy at Lives Less Ordinary counted her blessings this week and discontinued doing Thursday Thirteens as a way of being kind to herself.
- Calvin, the Lone Grey Squirrel, has tried a variety of things from taking friends to lunch as well as praying for people in need.
- Van at FuriousBall took in a 22 pound (!) cat that needed a new home.
- Vixen has created a page to document her kindness journey. She has some great ideas from give a little extra link love to blessing her difficult cousin’s home for the new year to helping a stranger in need.
- Janet at Fond of Snape is sharing her kindness with old friends.
- Small Town RN is working to make peace with her husband’s ex.
- Susan at Heart in SF didn’t scream at her grocery man. This is a kindness to him, and the world, but also to herself as he is her grocer.
When you get some time, please check out a few of your fellow Everyday Kindness bloggers.
By my calculations, we’ve committed more than 220 acts of kindness this year. How cool is that!
We have a couple new bloggers - Sacred Ruminations (who also writes at Small Reflections) and Waking up in Portland. Stop by and give them a holler to welcome them to our little project.
A couple of our group could use a bit of your love this week. Odat lost her husband last week. She could use your prayers and love. Harlekwin celebrated her 50th birthday and could use a cheer.
