Everyday Kindness

Simply kind every day

Day 8 - January 8, 2008

January 9th, 2008 · 3 Comments

My goal for today was to smile at every person, even when I didn’t feel like it.  I made it about 90%.  I managed to thank people for their assistance.

And it wasn’t always easy.  Sometimes, with some people, smiling was hard.

Just a smile to every person I saw today.  That was my act of kindness.

I am learning that I have to stay in that calm, trusting space to be kind.  If I focus on staying in that place, I am kinder in general.  I find that people respond to my calm.  It’s almost as if simply being calm is an act of kindness in itself.

Interesting, eh?

You do emit a sense of calm, and that in and of itsself is VERY calming. It’s your voice. It’s almost hypnotic.

I found your project through Claudia’s T-13 this morning and love the concept. Reading your post reminds me of Thich Nhat Hanh’s book PEACE IN EVERY STEP. I believe that smiling raises our own happiness level as it increases the joy in others.
    Hugs and blessings,
