Today marks the first day in my kindness challenge. I committed to doing one small act of kindness every day during 2008. Eleven courageous bloggers also took up the challenge. During the next year, I will keep a blog of my journey and hopefully others will join in.

My original goal was to hold myself accountable to one small thing every single day. I wanted to learn the edges of kindness - for example, what is it like to choose kindness when I’m sick (like today)? We’ll see how it goes.

I have posted the beginnings of the everyday kindness blog roll under this tab. You can also get there through: www.everyday-kindness.com.

I’m just starting so there’s no way to know where it will grow to. If you would like to take the challenge, and join our everyday kindness blogroll, please know this:

  • Making the commitment doesn’t require that you let anyone know what you do. This is a personal, individual challenge.
  • Feel free to blog about your commitment on your weblog or on the community weblog (coming soon!)
  • I’ve set up a mailing list for infrequent mailings to people who have made the commitment. I plan to share inspiration articles or thoughts. Mostly it’s a way to pass along code for the blogroll and little promo buttons.

If you would like to join us, please send me an email at: everydaykindness at gmail dot com.

If you think it’s a neat idea, but are not ready to make such a commitment, please consider posting a link on your weblog. My hope is to encourage the world to become a kinder place - one small act at a time.

My goal for this week is to meet my neighbors - one small act of kindness at a time.

I love this idea! It reminds of the “practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty” project. I’ll be happy to share on my blogs and will send an email later to join.
    Hugs and blessings,
